🧭 Announcing WhichAI? — a free tool to help you pick the right AI for the job

Hello! We've renamed this channel from Prompt Crafting for Journalists to AI for Journalists, broadening the focus from technical prompting techniques to wider insights and help for reporters, editors, producers and communicators to make practical, effective use of AI in their daily work.

In recognition of that shift, we've built and launched a nifty new tool called WhichAI?. Choosing the right AI model and/or tool for a specific journalism task — verifying a clip, cleaning a dataset, transcribing an interview, drafting a newsletter — can be challenging. WhichAI? now makes that a lot easier.

WhichAI? is a free, browser-based decision-helper built specifically for journalists and communicators. Answer a few short questions about what you're trying to do, and it returns a fresh, deep-researched, unbiased ranked Top 3 of AI models or tools best suited to that task. Results and recommendations are neutral; there are no incentives or affiliate links.

Always current — not a stale list

Every recommendation is generated by a live, deep search of what's actually available right now. WhichAI? doesn't pull from a pre-baked database that goes out of date the moment a new model drops or a price changes. It searches the current landscape on each query, so the tools, capabilities and ZAR prices you see reflect today's reality.
